Growing the game of golf in Vermont …

The Vermont Golf Association was organized in 1902 with seven charter members: Dorset Field Club, Ekwanok Country Club, Montpelier Country Club, Waubanakee Country Club of Burlington, Old Pine Country Club of St. Johnsbury, Mt. Anthony Country Club of Bennington, and the Rutland Country Club. The Barre Golf Club became a member in 1903.
Today, the Vermont Golf Association is the authoritative body for golf in the state of Vermont representing more than 8,600 amateur golfers and 62 golf clubs in the state.

How we serve the game of golf

  • Creating the opportunity for players of every ability to compete in VGA tournaments.
  • Adopting, enforcing and interpreting the rules of golf in accordance with the rules adopted by the U.S.G.A.
  • Establishing, maintaining, controlling and regulating a handicap system.
  • Providing and maintaining course ratings for member clubs.
  • Hosting junior golf programs including clinics and competitive tournaments and competitions.
  • Offering member clubs counsel by providing the means for the interchange of information and concepts pertaining to overall club management, operation and facilities.
