The opening round of the Manchester Country Club Spring Classic was completed on Saturday, as players battled through the first 18 holes of competition at one of Vermont’s premier golf destinations. With the final round set for Sunday, Cooper Guerriere will take a three-shot lead into the championship round after an impressive bogey-free performance.
Guerriere fired a 69 (-3) during Saturday’s opening round, separating himself from the field as the only player to finish under par. His steady play throughout the day featured consistent ball striking and mistake-free golf, allowing him to build momentum heading into the final round. Avoiding big numbers proved to be key at Manchester Country Club, and Guerriere’s clean scorecard has him in control entering Sunday.
Reece de Castro and Garren Poirier are tied for second place after both carded even-par rounds of 72. The pair remain firmly within reach of the lead and will look to apply pressure early during the final round as they attempt to chase down Guerriere. With only three shots separating first and second place, Sunday’s round is still wide open heading into the closing 18 holes.
Several other players remain in contention as well, setting the stage for what should be an exciting finish at Manchester Country Club.
In the Senior Division, Greg Wells leads the way after posting a round of 74 (+2). Wells put together a strong opening round and will carry a three-shot advantage into Sunday’s final round.
David Arakelian and Matthew Bacsardi are tied for second in the Senior Division after rounds of 77 (+5). Both players remain well within striking distance and will look to make a move during the final round as they attempt to close the gap on Wells.
The final round of the Manchester Country Club Spring Classic will be played tomorrow, with players competing for titles in both the Championship and Senior Divisions. Live scoring and final results will be available through the Vermont Golf Association throughout the day.
