2026 Vermont Spring Four-Ball Championship Set for May 2nd–3rd

The Vermont Golf Association is excited to kick off the championship season with one of the most anticipated events of the year — the 2026 Vermont Spring Four-Ball Championship. Taking place on May 2nd & 3rd, this two-day event brings together players from across the state for a competitive and memorable early-season test at some of Vermont’s premier golf courses.

This championship is played in a 2-person team format, using One Best Ball of Two stroke play over 36 holes. Each player plays their own ball throughout the round, with the team recording the lowest score on each hole. It’s a format that rewards both individual performance and team strategy — giving players the chance to lean on their partner while still going low when it counts.

A Unique Multi-Course Championship Experience

One of the defining features of the Spring Four-Ball is its rotating host venues. Teams will be placed into flights based on their combined handicap index, with each flight assigned to a specific course rotation:

Proctor-Pittsford Country Club & Equinox Golf Resort

Rutland Country Club & Manchester Country Club

Neshobe Golf Club & Dorset Field Club

Each team will compete at one course per day within their assigned rotation, offering a dynamic and diverse playing experience. From classic layouts to scenic mountain backdrops, this championship highlights the best of Vermont golf while providing a fair and competitive structure across all flights.

New in 2026: Women’s Division Added

For the first time in championship history, the Vermont Spring Four-Ball will feature a Women’s Division. This addition creates new opportunities for female competitors to take part in one of the state’s premier team events.

Men’s & Women’s teams will compete within their respective flights. This expansion reflects the VGA’s continued commitment to growing the game and making golf more inclusive across Vermont.

The Perfect Early-Season Event

Whether you’re looking to shake off the rust after the winter months or jumpstart your competitive season, the Spring Four-Ball is the perfect opportunity. The team format makes it approachable and fun, while the championship atmosphere provides a meaningful test for players of all skill levels.

It’s also a great way to experience new courses, compete alongside friends, and be part of Vermont’s vibrant golf community right from the start of the season.
