72 holes stroke play. 36 holes qualifying, 18 holes Tuesday and Wednesday. 40 lowest scores and all ties for 40th place qualify to continue championship play. Play continues with 36 holes on Thursday. Practice round available at the site one-week prior. Call Pro Shop to reserve tee time for practice round. McCullough Cup awarded to club with four low gross scores from first 2 days of competition. Team must be selected prior to start of the tournament.
Top 20 and ties from previous year are exempt along with Senior, Mid-Amateur , Junior Match, Stroke Play Champions and host sites Club Champion. The Vermont Golf Association also may grant special exemptions at its discretion.

State Day Competitions
18 holes, stroke play for low gross and net scores. Tournament played in three flights determined by handicap: 'A' Flight 0-10, 'B' Flight 11-16, 'C' Flight 17-36. A "Hickory" Flight is available at all State Day Competitions, if there is 3 or more participants. Call club not more than one week in advance to reserve a starting time. Carts may be mandatory at some courses. Check with Pro Shop for specifics. If you are registering on-line for a state day at your home course, please select the appropriate state day that is listed as "Member Sign-Up"
